Plaster chipped off - it was in a pretty poor state so most of it came off easily.

We still were using the table here until I decided it was all getting too much to have to keep clearing up.

The mortar was quite soft so easy to drill out for these supports and to cut out the slot.

The flash makes it difficult to see, but there are still 2 bricks either end in place.

The lintel was 1.8m, but I only needed 1.6m and the next size down was 1.5m, so I had to cut it down. Even then it was quite heavy so I used a couple of vertical batons, 3 shelf brackets which I kept refitting with a cordless screwdriver to 'step' it up into place.

Cemented in and you can see I have started hollowing out the chimney breast.
