The old outhouse had to come down for the new extension for two reasons. One - the extension had to have cavity walls (they were solid 9 inch), and two - I wanted the bricks so to match the existing brickwork. I had saved bricks from other bits of building here and I also knew there would be some from the either side of the french windows. My calculations suggested that there should be enough if I dismantled things carefully. The timelapse film here shows me Taking Down the Outhouse
For those interested - I took a picture every 4 seconds over a period of 4 work days using Framethief, sequenced them together with Quicktime Pro, then edited out the boring bits with iMovie
The pictures below show what the builders did for me. I am not good at digging and my bricklaying is not straight enough. Also putting in steels and so on is probably not that difficult if you know how - but they are kind of heavy so not really a job for me alone.
