Handlebar clamps/Map Board standoffs
The black plastic bits came from another map carrier I bought which was rubbish! The thin pieces of rubber are for grip. The laminated standoffs made from layers of 18mm ply may look a bit Heath-Robinson but are really light. The bolts are B+Q's finest M6 as are the big washers.

Underside of the Map Board
Here you can see how the Map Board is fitted to the handlebars. The standoffs allow space for the bell and brake lever fluid resevoirs. The 'notch' at the back was a V1.0 thing when I mounted the Board forwards and level with the headset.

Map Board pocket
The Map Board is made from 18mm Ply. To reduce the weight I machined out the central area with a router. This gives me a small pocket for odd+ends which I might need quickly. The plywood is quite thin in the middle and so the big washers spread the load as the bolts need to be tight to ensure rigidity.

Map Board biker's view
The map carrier is a plastic sleeve from the rubbish carrier I bought. I fastened it to the front of the Map Board to form a folding lid. The captive elastic holds it closed. The GPS is for route logging and when I get lost (yes I know...). A compass on the other side is a glaring omission.
